George Weyrauch, 72, of Independence, MO, passed away and went into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 14, 2012, after a five year battle with Alzheimer's. George spent his last breath under the loving care of his wife of 53 years, Gerri, and the incredible, compassionate, and loving staff of the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, July 19, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Church with the burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
George loved his family and many friends, was a man of few words and possessed great integrity. He was a true gentleman and man of faith. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and retired as manager of Firestone at 20th and Grand in Kansas City.
George leaves behind his wife whom he dearly loved, Gerri Weyrauch; his children, George Weyrauch II (Shari), Tammi Knipp (Gregg), and Greg Weyrauch (Kristen); four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; sister, Linda Mortallaro (Tom); brothers, Gary Weyrauch (Kathy), and Dennis Weyrauch; brother-in-law, Chuck Sprofera (Brenda); and sister-in-law, Anna Mae Whitacker (Jim).
