Gerald Gene "Jerry" Ruhlman, 65, of Independence, MO, unexpectedly passed away on February 10, 2020. He was a loving Son, Father, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.

Jerry was born on January 15, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to John and Sylvia Ruhlman.  He grew up in the Northeast area of Kansas City, MO and attended Holy Cross Grade School, De La Salle High School, then Saint Mary's High School, graduating in 1973. Jerry loved to spend time with family and friends, fish, watch the Chiefs play every Sunday, tend to his garden, and he loved the ocean. He also enjoyed playing cards (Rummy) with his mother.

Preceding him in death were his father, John Ruhlman; sister, Marilyn Spero; and his grandparents. Jerry leaves his mother, Sylvia; three brothers, John (Tara), James (Debbie), and Leo (Mary Kay) Ruhlman; one sister, Katherine Barbeau (David); and one brother-in-Law, Nick Spero. He leaves his daughters, Angie Ruhlman, Sandra Hollingsworth (David), Niki Cary (Matthew), and Katie Ruhlman (Woody); his grandchildren, Ray, Landon, Brayden, Alexis, Ethan, Adam, Fred, Molly, Kayleen, and Lauren; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins in Kansas City, MO, Atchison, KS, and throughout the United States.

Jerry was very involved in spending time with his grandchildren. He loved taking them to the park, to get ice cream, making cookies, grilling, and playing bags out in the back yard.  Jerry made friends everywhere he went and could make anyone laugh. He loved to cook big meals and make everyone feel welcome.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. with a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Dr., Kansas City, MO 64118. Condolences may be offered at www.passantinobros.com
