Gertrude Dorothy Vollmer Danner, age 84, filled with faith and grace went home to be with her Lord on May 22, 2013.  Visitation will begin with the recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m. and continue until 7p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at St. Patrick Parish, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. also at the Parish of St. Patrick. She will be buried following Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City North.

She is survived by her children Mona, Eric, Gina and Kyle Danner, as well as her daughter in law Christina, her grandchildren Andrew and Bethany as well as her brothers Francis, Leroy, and Robert Vollmer.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Bernadine Vollmer, her husband Haver C. Danner, her son Neil and her brother Donald.

Gertie lived in Kansas City North.  She attended St. Patrick Parish for daily mass and then coffee with her friends. She grew up in and around Boonville, MO, attended St. Mary's Nursing College in the late 40's and during her early career worked at St. Mary's Hospital and her dream position was with orthopedist Dr. Robert Drisko, Sr.  At the core of who she was, Gertie was a caregiver.  Whenever her family or community needed her she was there to give of herself and her heart.  Whether making food for church dinners, acting as a lay minister, serving on her parish council, giving of her gifts to Operation Breakthrough or providing care to a family member.  She was always there.

When her husband wanted to start a business following his military career, Gertie was there to lend a critical helping hand. Gertie and Haver worked side by side with their young family at a Chicken Delight Franchise in the 60's, in LeCar Delivery in the 70's, in their Mail & More store in the 80's and in Mail Print during the 90's and early 2000's.
