Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gina Suzanne Lopez, who left us far too soon at the age of 44. Gina was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, and friend whose warmth, humor, and boundless spirit touched all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Lopez; her adored children, Nicholas Lopez (14) and Estela Lopez (10); her father, Kenneth Pellman; and her mother, Virginia Lorton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas Pellman.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Gina attended Sumner Academy High School before going on to earn her bachelor's degree in business from Emporia State University. During her early adulthood, she worked at Italian Delight in Indian Springs, a job she cherished and fondly remembered as one of her favorites. Her career path eventually led her to State Street Financial, where she dedicated 18 years, finding both fulfillment and community.

In 2009, Gina married the love of her life, Jimmy, beginning a beautiful journey. Together, they welcomed two children, Nicholas and Estela, who became the center of her world. Gina's family life was filled with laughter, love, and countless memories, including moving to Basehor to create their forever home.

Known for her vibrant and fun-loving spirit, Gina brought joy to every gathering, always in charge of the music and ensuring everyone felt welcomed. Her friends and family remember her as a woman whose vibrant energy and determination to share a laugh could lift the spirits of everyone in the room.

Gina had a deep love for travel and adventure. She delighted in exploring the world, including unforgettable trips abroad, which included annual trips to Mexico with close friends and family. Her favorite place, however, was the Lake of the Ozarks, where she spent countless summers making cherished memories with loved ones.

Gina's devotion to her family was unmatched. She was a dedicated mother, cheering on Nicholas and Estela at every game and celebrating every milestone. She found joy in the simple things—reading a good book, taking her beloved dog for walks, and finding pride in her knack for saving money on every purchase.

In January 2024, Gina was diagnosed with brain cancer, a battle she faced with remarkable strength and resilience. Her courage through this time became a source of inspiration to those around her, and her unwavering love for her family remained constant.

Gina's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her memory will forever be a source of light and strength to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
