Obituary

Hadley Eugene Cutburth, 78, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Hadley was born on October 6, 1947, in Clarinda, Iowa, and grew up in Houstonia, MO, where he graduated from high school. In 1965, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Hadley dedicated his career to law enforcement, first working as a police officer in Washington, D.C., and later retiring as a Kansas City, MO police officer.

On March 23, 1973, he married the love of his life, Soledad "Sally" Cutburth, in Kansas City. Together they built a beautiful life, raising their family and later opening and managing two successful convenience stores in Kansas City before enjoying full retirement.

Hadley will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, affectionately known as "Gaga." He often said, "There is nothing more important than family," a value he lived by every day. He cherished time with his loved ones, from family vacations across the country to world travels with Sally, including special adventures through Europe. His interests included hunting, home improvement projects, and creating lasting memories with his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Soledad, and his grandson, Aidan Henson.

Hadley is survived by his children, Sean Cutburth (Annamarie Occhipinto), Gina Lile (Robert Lile), and Louis Cutburth; grandchildren Jessica (Taylor), Amanda, Chloe, Jackson, and Juliette; one great-grandchild Blaire; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, October 31, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Road, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org in support of diabetes research.

Honorary Pallbearers include Robert Lile, Jackson Hadley Lile, Taylor Heislen, and Anthony Occhipinto.

Hadley's legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
