On December 18, 2022, Helen A. Estevez passed away peacefully. Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Dr., Kansas City, MO 64118.  Visitation will be held 10:00am-12:00pm. The Funeral Mass will immediately follow. The burial will follow the Mass in the First Responders Garden at Resurrection Cemetery, 5001 NE Cookingham Rd., Kansas City, MO 64156. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sister Servants of Mary, 800 N 18th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66102.

Helen was born on August 6, 1932, in Eskridge, KS.  She was the fourth of ten children born to her parents:  Antanacio and Micaela Diaz. Helen was a tender, loving, and cherished daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who along with her husband of 67 years, Armand G. Estevez , raised their only daughter, Sylvia (Mark) Cassady who reside in KCMO. Helen was a long-time member of St. Bernadette Church and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parishes.

Helen was dependable and always possessed hard working ethics. She worked over 29 years and retired from the Division of Family Services.

At an early age Helen sang and loved music. She was a percussionist and played the drums in the Eskridge Ks. High School band.  Helen's passion for music was shared by her husband Armand. Together, they learned chords on his guitar. One of their favorite family past times was singing and harmonizing many folklore and old songs together.

Helen enjoyed various hobbies. Helen was an avid reader growing up. Later in life she enjoyed being an instructor for a puppy class with the Greater KCMO German Shepherd Dog Club. Other passions of hers were crocheting, sewing, gardening, traveling, and watching sports with family and friends.

Helen was a devoted wife, never leaving her husband's side and always putting her family first.

The joys of her life were her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was always the most important part of her life. She loved playing cards, games and being silly with her great-grandchildren.

Helen was gentle, kind, soft spoken and possessed a kindred spirit. Her faith in God was a constant and lived her life loving her family with her whole heart and soul.

Greeting her in Heaven is the love of her life, her husband; her parents; her brothers, Jovan, Manuel, Anthony, Benjamin, Joseph Alfred, and baby brother Raul Diaz; and her two sisters, Maria Quintero and Elvira (Mary Ellen) Robinson.  Helen is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Cassady (Mark); her sibling and sisters-in-laws: Bernie Diaz (Clara), Betty Marie Diaz; as well as her two grandchildren, Natalie Teresk (Martin), and Dominic Cipolla; four great-grandchildren Aiden and Xavier Cipolla, Savina and Alina Teresk; along with many nieces and nephews.

She is now our Guardian Angel who will live on in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
