Helen Raye Hartung, 94, went home to Jesus July 7, 2021. She was born December 7, 1926 in Milan, MO to William R. Wheeler Sr. and Iva Myrtle Sims Wheeler. She grew up in a large, rowdy family of three older brothers and three younger brothers. She moved to Kansas City, MO after high school where she met and married Hadley Williams. Their union produced three children Diana Williams Graham and twins David Williams and Donald (Jan) Williams. They divorced after 20 years but remained friends until his death. She was well known for taking her children's friends roller skating, to the movies, on picnics, to parties and all the other places tweens and teenagers liked to go.

Helen worked for Caterpillar Tractor for 32 years and also owned The Hitchin' Post bar for 10 years. Not content to just retire, she worked for attorney Susan Bratcher for three years and also a food service company. She was a member of Independence Boulevard Christian Church for over 70 years. Once she retired, she became ever more involved particularly in Sunday school,  the Christian Women's Fellowship and her loved Micah Ministry which she helped found. She was also a long time Deacon and Elder.

Helen enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She loved her family and the annual family reunions, seeing the family grow and the multiple generations at each one. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister Syvella Wheeler, brothers  and sisters-in-law James B. "J.B." and Ilene Wheeler, Earl and Elizabeth Wheeler, Glen "Buddy" and Margaret Wheeler, John Wheeler and precious long-time friend and sister-in-law Mary Wheeler; daughter-in-law Sherry Reno Williams; grandson Alex Williams; and granddaughter Julie Graham Tritten. She leaves to mourn her: her children; grandchildren Christopher Graham, Heather Graham Muldowney, and Nicole Williams; brothers William R. "Bill" Wheeler and Cecil (Wilma) Wheeler; many adored nieces and nephews; and her long-time friend Rose Alice Chandler.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 18 ^th at Independence Boulevard Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Wayside Waifs or a charity of your choice.
