Obituary

Henry Gargotta, 93, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Holy Rosary Parish.

Henry was born November 5, 1921, in Kansas City, MO, the youngest of ten children born to Joseph and Caroline (Nigro) Gargotta. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was entrusted to guard the Enola Gay which carried the atomic bomb. He spent his life at the City Market under the sign "Henry's Produce". Henry was the last of his siblings. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Gargotta, Mike "Broadway" Gargotta, Jimmy Gargotta, Jake Gargotta; his sisters, Mary Cirese, Gusty Gargotta, Jennie Gargotta, Rosie Gargotta, Fannie Ferrantelli; and nephew, Joe Gargotta.

Henry is survived by his nieces and nephew, Caroline Burnside of Palm Springs, CA, Lucille Tutera, Caroline Pruett, Rose Mary Gargotta Johnson, James Gargotta; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Joe Cirese, Joe Tutera, Anthony Mendolia, David Cunningham, James Gargotta.

The family would like to thank Donna Sue Lancaster and Melinie Gurley for endless hours of tender loving care.
