James S. Artese, 82, passed away July 9, 2020 at NorthCare Hospice House. He was born on August 6, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas; the son of the late Salvatore and Catherine (O'Brien) Artese.

James grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated from De La Salle High School in 1955. He attended Rockhurst College for a short time where he majored in art as he was an incredible drawer and also served in the National Guard. He was a very talented baseball player with the Ban Johnson league and was even scouted potentially for the Washington Senators.

He was lovingly united in marriage with Mariella (Maria) Miglia in 1975 and had a daughter Gina in 1977. James had a very successful career of 50 years as a car salesman/manager. He was an avid lover of all things baseball, and especially his favorite KC Royals and Chiefs. He loved shooting craps at the casino and loved every meal his wife cooked for him.

James loved his family above all else. He is survived by his children Gina Artese (Julien); stepson Steve Ruiz (Katie); brother John Artese (Yolanda); grandchildren Nico & Ariana Ruiz; nephew Salvatore Artese (Stephanie); great-nieces/nephews Arianna, Aaliyah, Gianna, Salvatore & Luca; brother-in-law Flavio Miglia; cousin Larry Gialde (Kathie) & step Aunt Ernestine Artese.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Dr., KCMO 64118. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing are required for all services.
