Obituary

James Harvey Bradley, Jr., age 89, Kansas City, MO, passed away on November 2, 2015. Visitation will begin with the Rosary at 2 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Visitation will also be 9-10:45 a.m. Monday, November 9, at Holy Rosary Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church; or Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD), 1010 West 39th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.

James was born on June 24, 1926, in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Bradley; his parents, Julia Innes and James Bradley, Sr.; and siblings, Anthony Bradley, Florence Bradley Carrolla, and Rose Marie Balistreri. James served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan after World War II. He was a local business owner for many years and owned and operated the Country Club Market and the Pumpernickel Deli, a downtown fixture. James was born, raised and retired in the Columbus Park area. He was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Parish, received the 2012 Bishop Recognition Award for the Diocese of Kansas City - St. Joseph. James was also recently recognized by The Phoenix Family Foundation with the 2015 Clifton R. Cohn Senior Community Leader award. His many hours of service and dedication to the community were recognized with a street named in his honor, Junior Place.

James is survived by his children, Julie Copenhaver (Mike), James Bradley (Suzie), Thomas Bradley (Ann), Chuck Bradley (Dana), and Cathy Cummings (Sean); his grandchildren, Julie Hietbrink (Jeremy), Terra Golden (Mike), Megan Copenhaver, John Cordry, Kristen Paul (Stacy), Michael and Katie Bradley, Jimmy Bradley (Carm), Angela Gallo (Tony), Mary Disciacca (Kamron), Rosemary, Joseph, Anthony, and Carmelina Rodriguez, Stefani Bradley, Rosie, Danielle, and Angelina Curiel, Gabriel and Kyle Cummings; his great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ana Cordry, Aiden and Alex Paul, Vincent Bradley, Carissa Occhipinto, Hannah, Ava and Parker Landry, Antonia and Carmella Gallo, George Disciacca; his niece, Joann Curiale (Tom); his sisters-in-law, Patricia Sicola (John), Kathryn Blackshire (Ben); beloved friend, Rosalie George; his dearest friend and companion, Vivian Gentile; his many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his friends at 801.
