James B. Holmes died on Monday, November 12, 2012.

He was one of six children born to Lallie and L.C. Holmes. He was born on September 17, 1936 in Vian, OK. He parents, one brother, Lewis Charles "L.C." Holmes Jr., and three sisters, Lanae Jackson, Almeta Belcher and Zenobia Dickson preceded him in death. He graduated from Vian High School in 1952. Holmes enlisted in the Armed Forces of the United States, Department of the Air Force, in 1955, he was a 3rd Air Police/Basic Airman, with an honorable discharge, November 14, 1958. He married Freda M. (Jones) Homes in 1959, in Sallisaw, OK, who preceded him in death. He retired from the Government of the United States following 30 years of loyal service.

He leaves to cherish his memory four daughter, Patricia N. Mallory (John), Terrie E. Cardoza-Collins (Marion), Sheila L. Bowren (Ronell), and Angela D. Clay (Marvin); nine grandchildren, Krishaun, Tiffany, Alexis (John), Antonio, Kyndall, Raishelle, Kennedie, Raunyai and Courtney; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ruffian D. Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other loved ones.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:45 a.m. at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Burial at 12:30 p.m. in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
