James I. Vetter, 79, and Martha I. Vetter, 77, husband & wife for nearly 60 years, passed away January 1, 2015. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8812 E. Gregory Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Jim was born September 9, 1935, in Topeka, KS, and retired as a systems analyst for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an accomplished musician, who played accordion. Martha was born July 16, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, and was a longtime volunteer for NAMI, where Jim also served on the board of directors. She attended Blue Ridge Bible Church and was a talented artist in oil and pastel painting. They were preceded in death by Jim's brothers, Joseph, Edward and George, and sister, Lucille; and Martha's sisters, Beth, Ruth and Dorothy.

Jim and Martha are survived by their children, E. Lea Lichty (Curt), George I. Vetter (Linda Haus), Jamaine M. Abidogun (Ayodeji), Dorothy T. Johnson (Rick Balagna); 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; Jim's sister-in-law, Victoria Vetter; Martha's brother, David Courtney (Juanita); and many nieces and nephews.
