James L. Sharpe, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 6, 2023.  Jim was born on February 12, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was raised in the Northeast area and attended Holy Cross Catholic grade school.  He graduated from Cardinal Glennon High School in 1960 where he met Cecelia Marie Devero.  They were married in 1963.

He received a degree in business from Central Missouri State University in 1964 and an MBA from Rockhurst College in 1978.  Jim and Ceil moved to the northland in 1970 where they raised their family.  Jim began his business career at Hallmark Cards and worked at their distribution plant in Liberty, MO.  He later worked for American Identity as plant manager in Bonner Springs, KS.  He also spent more than 20 years teaching business and accounting in the evening division at William Jewell College.  He was very involved with NKCA baseball coaching and volunteering in the 1970s and 1980s with his three sons.  He spent his retired years attending the numerous activities of his eight grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father, Howard F. Sharpe and his granddaughter Haley M. Sharpe.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cecelia M. Sharpe, his mother, Rosemary Sharpe, and his three sons, James H. Sharpe and Jenny Steele of Olathe, KS, Robert C. and Stacey Sharpe of Lee's Summit, MO, and Matthew J. Sharpe and Lori Elliott of Smithville, MO.  He will be dearly missed by his eight grandchildren Tyler, Trey, Svieta, Kellen, Lauren, Rebecca, Tucker, and Luke Sharpe.

Services will be held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church 4737 N. Cleveland Ave. Kansas City, MO 64117 on Saturday, February 11, 2023, with a Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and Mass at 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice for their wonderful care throughout these last few months.  In lieu of flowers, we would suggest memorial contributions to Cancer Action or Kansas City Hospice.
