Obituary

Jasper J. "Jay" Parisi, 92, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at NorthCare Hospice House. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, December 20, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Jay was born September 10, 1922 in Kansas City, MO to Pete and Sandina (Zito) Parisi. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre aboard the minesweeper USS Token, and was present alongside the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay during the Japanese surrender in 1945. Jay was a member of Campo-Manfre-Barbieri Post 151 of the American Legion where he served in many capacities including commander and chaplain. He retired from Sunshine Biscuit Co.

Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mollie E. Parisi, in 2010; his son, Michael J. Parisi, in 1994; his son-in-law, John M. Mancuso, in 2013; and his brother, Alfred Parisi, in 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Mancuso; his grandchildren, Jim and Angela Mancuso, Jay Mancuso, Florence Mancuso; great-grandchildren, Lilliana and Marina Mancuso; sister-in-law, Jennie Distasio; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jay was a quiet, loving and giving man who was deeply proud of his service to his country.
