We are gathered here today in the memory of my mother, Jessie Mae White, so that together we may acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that her life was to us, and the pain that her passing brings. Jessie Mae White, 86, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Truman Medical Center, following a long-suffering battle with her terminal illness.

Born July 10, 1931 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Willie A. Moffett and Bessie Pryor. She and her two brothers were left orphaned after her father passed away when she was 3-years-old, and her mother passed away when she was 5-years-old. After living with various family members, they were finally adopted by her half-sister, Floretha Barnes and her husband Charley.

Before passing she was an enduring employee at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for over 30 years. She retired with honors as an outstanding, dedicated employee in 1996. Jessie was a member of True Vine Baptist for 17 years before becoming a member of Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in 1998. There she has been an enduring, active member until her illness prevented her attending services as usual. She appreciated all the cards and calls from her friends at her church. She thanks them all for their kinds words of understanding.

She is survived by her only daughter of 68 years, Maxine White. Her eldest brother, the late Robert Allen Moffett, passed prior to her leaving his daughters: Gwendolyn Moffett Pate, Tammy Moffett Thomas and her son and wife with three children; her late youngest brother, James (Man Son), passed away prior to her death leaving daughters: Shirley James Moffett with one son, one grandson and one great-grandson, and  Bessie Moffett with one son and wife and three grandchildren; all to include a host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews she may have met.
