Jewell Grant Shane, 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away August 2, 2022.

Jewell was born November 23, 1936, to Ruth V. and Jewell G. Shane Sr. As an only child, he  admired the large families of his friends. In 1958 he became part of one, marrying Rita C. Madrid . Together they raised five children: Rita, Ruth Ann, Jewell, Arsenio, and Dan. It was the coolest thing he said he'd ever done. Jewell was a Golden Glove's champ and coached through Don Bosco and Whatsoever gyms. He built a strong reputation as a local roofer, a craft he enjoyed until he was nearly 80. He was fair in business and generous with family, friends, and strangers. He was humble, had a boundless sense of humor, and was quick with a story or kind word.

Jewell leaves his five children, 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandkids. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday, August 13, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
