Jody Lynn (Calzarano) James, 55, passed away tragically on June 17, 2025, in Deepwater, Missouri.

Jody was born on July 29, 1969, to Joseph and Carol Calzarano in St. Paul, Minnesota. A selfless and compassionate soul, Jody was dedicated to serving her community through Cedar Grove Baptist Church and The Warm House, where she generously donated her time to help those in need. She had a deep love for both people and animals, especially her beloved lab, Ginger. From an early age, Jody had a special place in her heart for stray animals, bringing them home regardless of their kind.

Jody is survived by her mother Carol Vacca; sister Anita Yarrington; brother Joseph Calzarano and wife Carolyn; sister Mary Vetter and husband Duane; stepbrother James Vaca and wife Lori; and stepsister Anna Vaca.  She was preceded in death by her stepfather William Vacca; and her beloved little brother Christopher Vacca. Jody also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends and community members.

Known for her infectious laugh and her ability to light up any room, Jody will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her passion for life was evident in her love of spending time at the lake with friends and hunting for morel mushrooms. Jody's memory will be cherished forever.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery in Kansas City.
