John
Giambrone
Jun 24, 1950 — Mar 16, 2025
John Giambrone passed away March 16, 2025, at the age of 74.
John was a big tipper and always started his Christmas shopping in July. He always remembered everybody and everybody's kids. He was, moreover, equally generous with the wisdom and humor he shared with all he knew. He would wax eloquent on any subject and had a sympathetic and good-humored rejoinder for any comment or observation.
At a stage in his life, he had travelled the world and made a lot of money. All of the money he spent, and it was largely spent on other people. In recent years his prospects had diminished but he continued to be generous to a fault. If you delivered pizza or provided a cab ride, he was your friend.
He loved beautiful things. He had a knack for discovering treasure in out of the way thrift stores. His two rooms were densely filled with the historic and the quirky. The place presented like a cross between a museum and a carnival. He would live with these things for a while and then on impulse give it all away just to start over and shop some more. John loved to shop.
His passing places those of us who survive him in a new reality. Now there will be no starting over and no looking forward to the next chapter. John is gone. We can only struggle on in a world woefully diminished by the loss of kindness, generosity, and flair. It won't be the same.
