Obituary

John Steven Glorioso, 81, of Kansas City, MO, passed peacefully with his wife Gerry by his side on March 9, 2023.

John was born August 6, 1941, to the late John Glorioso and Mary Ruth Jennings in Kansas City, MO and was a lifelong resident of the Historic Northeast community. John graduated from Northeast High School in 1959, where he was an outstanding athlete and was inducted into the inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2017 for "Long Jump Indoor State Champion in 1959." After graduating he joined the U.S. Navy until 1963. After returning from the Navy, John was a baker for a short time. He then become a co-owner of the Gate Tavern Restaurant until it sold. In addition to the Gate Tavern Restaurant, he was the co-owner of Glorioso Tree Service until his retirement.

John loved the outdoors and wildlife from being an avid fisherman to saving baby squirrels from a tree that his workers would cut down. He loved planting beautiful flowers and was known for having a great garden with every kind of pepper you could imagine. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his son Johnny Joe Glorioso; brother James Barosh; mother Mary Jennings Barosh; and father and stepmother John and Norma Glorioso.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Gerry (Scudiero) Glorioso; children Heidi Glorioso, Stacey Donnici, Tony Mike Glorioso and Maria Glorioso; grandchildren Bobbi Jo Gumm, Lily Jo Glorioso and John Michael Glorioso; great-grandchildren Johnny Joe, Blaze, Yannah and Julio; sister Stephanie White; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and John Sciortino; sister and brother-in-law Nance and Mike Giambrone; brother-in-law Larry Scudiero; sister-in-law Mary Scudiero; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers: Carl DeMaddalena, Phil DeMaddalena, Leonard Occhipinto, Michael Occhipinto, Jeff Lyon, Michael Winn Jr., Joe Carl DiMartino, and Joe Mike Bonadonna.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ronnie Arens, Sam Scola, Mike Wagner, Bill Simons, Vic Catalina, Bob Wisdom, Eddie Anselmo, and Joe Snyder.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
