John Charles
Moretina
Aug 6, 1952 — Oct 26, 2020
John Charles Moretina, 68, was born August 6, 1952 in Kansas City, MO, and passed away peacefully on October 26, 2020. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass to begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City North. Masks and social distancing are required for the services.
John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Everyone who knew him loved him. A tireless friend, confidant and advisor to so many. He believed in family, honor and hard work. For over 35 years, John was a Teamster, ultimately retiring from Roadway Truck lines where he had many friends. He liked watching professional baseball, basketball and football but especially enjoyed sports when watching his three grandsons play and spending time getting to know his new granddaughter.
John loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his wife, son and daughter, three grandsons, his granddaughter, many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and his friends. To know John was to know a family man and friend who could offer advice, have a laugh with, listen or help in any way you needed. To that end, John touched many lives. And without hesitation, would offer support, betterment or lend a helping hand wherever he could.
Many people, including his brothers, sisters, their spouses, nieces and nephews and life-long friends will feel the loss of John. However, his loss may be felt deeper by none other than his wife of 48 years, son, daughter and grandchildren who were so proud of the man he was and thankful for every moment they were able to share with their patriarch as husband, father and papa John.
We will always love you and will never forget you. We are so proud of you and thank you for your life of love and sacrifice. Rest easy now dad, we will take it from here.
John was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Rose Moretina; sister Rosemary DiGirlamo; nephews Tommy Simone, Charlie Moretina, Frankie Ferrara; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
