John Clifford Robarge's Obituary
John Clifford Robarge, age 83, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his home. John was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 21, 1929 to John Clifford "Cliff" Robarge and Gladys Sines Robarge. He grew up in Rice Lake, WI, attended Rice Lake High School, Wisconsin State University and the Worton School of Finance. He enlisted in the US Air Force during the Korean War and served our Country from 1951 to 1955. He married Rose Marie Desch on October 9, 1954 in Topeka, KS where they lived until moving to Kansas City, MO in 2001.
John worked for the H.J. Heinz Company, Investors Diversified Services, and Famous Brands Distributors all of Topeka. He retired from Famous Brands in 1994. John was actively involved in volunteer work at Sacred Heart Parish and Hayden High School in Topeka. In retirement, John was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, gardening and yard work as well as traveling.
While in Topeka, John was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Berkshire Country Club. In Kansas City, he was a member of Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church.
John had a quick wit, winning smile, and a keen memory for names, garnering him many friends.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Marie Desch Robarge of the home, Ruth Robarge and partner Barbara Bemis of Kansas City, MO, John C. Robarge III and wife Natasha Robarge of League City TX, Mary Privitera and husband Carl Privitera of Mission Hills, KS. John is also survived by two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild and many, many, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, by his sister Dorothy Robarge Miller, and brother-in-law Everet Miller, of Everet WA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 11:30am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church located at 75th and Main, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will precede the funeral mass from 10:00am - 11:30am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Elizabeth Parish or St. Luke's Hospital Foundation.
