Obituary

John Paul Schembri, born in 1925, passed away on February 17, 2015.

He was born one of nine siblings in Wardija, Malta. He was raised on a farm and left home at age 16 to enlist in the British Navy during World War II. He served on the Honor Guard protecting President Franklin Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill during the Malta Conference held in February 1945. He emigrated to New York where he lived for 42 years. He founded an owner operator taxi service in Westchester County, New York with no outside financing or capital and it became the largest operator in Westchester County. He enjoyed great success in business and sold his company for a handsome profit. After his retirement, he resided in Malta and he also resided for 20 years in Australia with his lovely wife Pauline.

Many shall miss him as he has left loved ones spread across the globe from Canada to Missouri, New York City and Australia. He lived a full life endowed with rewards earned through his ardous work. He was respected for his honesty and work ethic and beloved for his brillant sense of humor.
