Joseph Leonard Anello, 94, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Joe was born November 14, 1919, in Kansas City, MO, to Samuel and Rose (Bonura) Anello. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He worked as a driver for Mohawk Meat Co. before he retired, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Sons of Columbus, and UNICO. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Dorothea, in 1992; and his sister, Rose Brogoto.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Abbate; grandson, Sam Abbate and fiancé Angela Patton; great-granddaughters, Bianca and Allie; nieces and nephews, Phyllis and Joe Lamento, Dominick and Priscilla Brogoto, RoseAnn Bonadonna; and great-nephews, Anthony and Joe Mike Bonadonna, Dominick and Victor Brogoto, Charlie and Vito Lamento.
