Joseph Anthony Anello, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, peacefully went to his heavenly home on May 24, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.

Joe, fondly known as "Joe Wine," was born to Anthony and Congetta (Conde) Anello on November 20, 1937in Kansas City, Missouri. Joe, the youngest of four children, grew up in Northeast Kansas City. He loved sharing stories of his childhood. After graduating from Northeast High School, Joe began working as a Foreman for Colony Paints where he remained for 38 years. He also worked part time as a bartender at the Pickin and Grinnin in Kansas City, Kansas where he met the love of his life and the person he would spend the rest of his life with, his dearest Janelle.

Joe and Janelle were married on January 30, 1981 and for 15 years resided in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1996they moved to Linn Valley Lakes where Joe began his dream job as the Manager of the Linn Valley Pro Shop. He enjoyed being on the golf course and, of course, everyone he met became a friend. After 20 years of the lake life, he and Janelle moved back to the Kansas City area to be near family.

As a young boy, Joe played baseball in the 3&2 league at Don Bosco, and then went on to play in the Ban Johnson league where he mostly played 3rd base. He belonged to an Italian baseball club that included many of his old baseball buddies. Joe looked forward to his monthly get-togethers at Anthony's.

While he enjoyed golfing, baseball, and bowling, he was the true definition of a family man. He loved family gatherings and the food that came along with it. Joe could make the best pot of sauce you've ever had.Joe was loud, had a laugh that was contagious, and his sense of humor was second to none. Everyone who met Joe loved him. He exemplified kindness and represented the good that we all need every day in our lives.

Joe was a faithful man who loved the Lord. His Christian faith was an essential part of his life. Joe would wake up every morning at 4:00 a.m., get down on his knees, and pray for each of his family members by name. He read the entire bible every year for 42 years.

Joe was greeted in heaven by his mother and father, his sisters Rosemarie George, Vonnie Phillips, and Barbara Anello; his daughter Toni Jo Anello, his granddaughter Angela Gibson, and his niece Lisa Walker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janelle Anello; five children and their spouses: Kathy (Ron) Gibson, Joe (Jacie) Anello, Tina (Ron) Waisner, Terri Henderson, and Connie (TJ) White; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren,and many nieces, nephews, and cousins - all of whom he loved fiercely and deeply.

Joe's passing leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but his memory will forever remain alive within us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Passantino Bros Funeral Home on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with prayer beginning at 4:30 p.m. [ Live Stream ]
