Joseph Anthony Becchina of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on March 8, 2024, at Liberty Hospital.  Joe was born on April 12, 1939, and was proud to have been raised in Northeast Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School.

Joe started his career at Western Electric and spent numerous years working in the trucking business in various capacities.  Joe eventually started his own mobile truck washing business, where he ran Clean Image Mobile Wash until his retirement.

In his younger years, Joe loved racing stock cars.  He could often be found at Riverside Racetrack with his father by his side for every race.  Joe was a NASCAR fan and would spend many weekends watching the races on television.  He was excited when he was able to attend his first NASCAR races at the Kansas Speedway.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman where he loved shooting skeet and sporting clays, duck hunting, boating, and fishing.  He participated in numerous bass tournaments on lakes around the Midwest.  Joe passed his love of the outdoors onto his son, Matthew, as well as his grandsons.  As Joe was unable to hunt and fish in recent years, he would sit by the phone and wait for the pictures to come in from the boy's hunting and fishing adventures, where he would often call if he wasn't getting updates fast enough, as patience was never his strongest attribute….

Throughout his life, Joe always enjoyed gambling, rather it be a game of cards, a dice game, or blackjack.  Joe enjoyed trips to Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Laughlin, and was well known at the Kansas City area casinos where he could often be found playing poker or blackjack, preferably double deck at his favorite tables.

Joe was known to be an amazing storyteller, had a great sense of humor, was charming and funny, and was loved by many.  If you found yourself at the end of a joke by Joe, you knew that he liked you, as teasing by him was an endearment.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Josephine (Palazzo) Becchina. He is survived by his daughter JoMarie Becchina; son Matthew Becchina; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Donald MacNeil; grandsons Eddie Becchina (Montana), Joey Becchina, Dominic MacNeil, and Jack MacNeil; his brother Matthew Becchina and wife Madeline; the mother of his children Florence Becchina; longtime companion Nellie Cain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are his grandsons Eddie Becchina, Joey Becchina, Dominic MacNeil, and Jack MacNeil, and nephews Joe Leggio, George Donnici, Gary Donnici, and Anthony Palazzo.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, MO. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to The Alzheimer's Association.
