Joseph E. Cherrito, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph E. "Joe" Cherrito, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, August 14, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Graveside services will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Mount Olivet Mausoleum, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.
Joe was born in Kansas City, MO, to Frank and Lena Cherrito on February 19, 1930. He graduated from DeLaSalle Academy in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as an insurance agent for United Insurance Company before he retired.
Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, JoAnn Cherrito, in 2006; his parents; and his sister, Madeline Sirna.
Joe is survived by his four children and their mother, Barbara Folsom; his daughter Linda Caldwell (Ron); his sons, Frank Cherrito (Marcia), Joseph E. Cherrito Jr., Carl Cherrito; sister, Katherine Valenti (Anthony); brother, Frank Cherrito (Annice); brother-in-law, Pete Sirna; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are his grandsons: Joseph E. Cirlincuina, Jr., Charles E. Cherrito, Frank R. Cherrito, Derek J. Cherrito, Michael Cherrito, Mason Cherrito.
Honorary Pallbearers: Noah C. Caster, Lynn Nelson, Jr., Michael Marlow, Josh Fisher.
