Joseph S. Giordano, 83, Smithville, MO, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Wayside Waifs or the Humane Society.
Joe was born May 17, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Saverio and Antonina (Catalano) Giordano. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Joe owned and operated J & G Body Shop for many years. He loved to collect and restore antique cars and was a member of the local and national Buick Club. Joe had a love and passion for all animals and was a lifelong member of the German Shepherd Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ann Giordano; sisters, Minnie Giordano and Dominica Bongiovanni; and brothers, Christopher Giordano, Nick Giordano, Paul Giordano, Peter Giordano, and Christopher Paul Giordano.
Joe is survived by his wife of 30 years, Audrey Giordano; his children, Thomas J. Gordon and wife Vickie, Joseph C. Giordano, Margaret A. Lane, Nicholas A. Giordano; step-children, Susan Ann Alba, Steven P. Fitch; 10 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Frank Cutrera, Marie and Carl Saitta; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
