Obituary

Joseph Grigoli, lovingly known as "Uncle Joe Bay", passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on September 8, 1936, to Victor and Anna (Burasco) Grigoli. Joe attended Glennon High School, where he began forming a strong work ethic. He started his career at Traders Bank and later found his true professional home with the Kansas City Royals, serving as Season Ticket Sales Manager until his retirement.

Joe absolutely loved baseball. Working for the Royals was more than a job — it was a joy. With his many connections for game and concert tickets, he delighted in helping family and friends enjoy unforgettable experiences. His love for sports didn't stop there. He was a devoted fan of Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball, and if you were part of his family, you were expected to be a KU fan too!

Though Joe never had children of his own, he poured his heart into his role as uncle. He was crazy about his nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were his own. To them, he was far more than an uncle. He kept them spoiled, supported, and deeply loved.

Joe was known for his generosity. If he saw a need, he gave. If someone needed help, he showed up. His kindness was quiet but constant, and his impact will be felt for generations.  He will be remembered for his big heart, his loyalty to family, his love of sports, and the countless memories made at games, gatherings, and family celebrations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Frances Spitaleri (Tony), sister and brother-in-law Florence Distefano (John), and a great-nephew Jude Kettner.  He leaves behind his nieces and nephews Joe Spitaleri (Kristi), Victor Spitaleri (Angela), Tom Spitaleri (Amy), Cathy Scimeca (Louie), Mike Distefano (Sonie), John Distefano, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
