Joseph George Palmentere, Jr., 67, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Joe was born November 28, 1945, in Kansas City, MO to Joseph George Palmentere, Sr. and Kathleen (Ruffolo) Palmentere. He and his brother, Benny, started B&J Fruit Juice in the City Market and grew the business into Palmentere Bros. Cartage, Mid-America Brokers, and Thunderbird Trucking, where he spent the next 40 years. His main passion in life was growing and building these businesses. Working with his many different family members made him proud. He enjoyed Harley's, cars, traveling and loved the game of golf. He was an avid football fan and spent many Sunday's at Arrowhead. Joe was preceded in death by his father; his sister, Mary Theresa Furlong; and nephew, Joey Palmentere.
Survivors include his mother, Kathleen Palmentere; brother, Benjamin Palmentere and wife Gerri; wife, Viky Palmentere; children, Tony Palmentere, Loree Huttinger and husband Jason, Natalie Kapur and husband Vik, Cara Becker and husband Adam, Nicole Rezai and husband Pedram; eight grandchildren; the mother of his children, Janet Palmentere; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joe was a very charismatic and strong willed man. He did things his way and was a mentor to many. His belief in himself took him far in life. There is nothing he could not accomplish. He will be greatly missed.
