Joseph S. Saitta passed away peacefully at home September 8, 2015.

Joe, the oldest child of Joseph and Rose (LaSala) Saitta, was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1931, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from De La Salle in 1949 and never missed a class reunion. Later he was the proprietor of the Mutual Bar and was affectionately named the 'Mayor of Wyandotte.' He then opened the Grandstand Bar, now site of the Sprint Center. After retiring, 'Pops' as he came to be known worked with his son Joe at Mustang Plus. He loved family, friends and the Kansas City Royals and was well loved as a favorite uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Judy (Burgio) Saitta, of Raytown, MO.

Preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles. He leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Marie Saitta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Art Good, and Mary Ann and Tim Carmody; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Mary Ferro, Jean and Pete Girardi, Vincent and Debbie Burgio, and Kathy Burgio; his children include Joe and Maria (Mazzeffe) Saitta, Rosanne Saitta, Tom and Annette (Hopper) Saitta, Cathy (Saitta) and Daniel Jackson. In addition, he leaves six very beloved, special grandchildren, Emily Saitta, Joe Chris Saitta, John Paul Jackson, Maddie Jackson, Faustina Jackson and Joe Frank Saitta. He was and will remain loved by family, friends and extended family.

Visitation will begin with the Rosary at 5 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. on Monday, September 14, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr., Kansas City, MO 64133. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, at St. Bernadette Church, followed by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
