Josephine LoPorto, 92, of Leawood, KS, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013.

Josephine was born February 18, 1921 in Kansas City, MO to Dominic and Congetta Saragusa. She married the love of her life, Frank LoPorto, in 1937, and selflessly devoted her life to the good of her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals and baking for her family and friends, especially holiday cookies. Josephine held an unwavering faith in God. She was a devout Catholic, praying the Rosary daily, and was a member of Nativity Parish. She had a special devotion to St. Joseph and showed it in her participation in the annual St. Joseph Table over the years.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Congetta; her husband, Frank; her sisters, Vita LaBella, Frances Hawver and Rose Messina; her brother, Mike Saragusa; and her great-grandson, Sam Paris.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie and Joe Cannova; her grandchildren, Clara and Joseph Paris, Jodi and Dave Belpedio, Dee Dee Jarvis; great-grandchildren T.J., Joe, Joseph, David, Brad, Laura and Frank; sister, Sara Capra; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Josephine's great-grandchildren.

The family offers it's thanks to Lucille Tutera and the staff of The Atriums for all of their friendship and loving care for Josephine.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Family and friends will gather on Friday, November 8, at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W 119th St., Leawood, KS 66209, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Mausoleum, Raytown, MO. Josephine will be sadly missed, but her traditions and memories will last forever. Her grandkids always told her that they don't build 'em like her anymore!
