Katherine "Kay" Marie Dunker (Meyer), age 83, a former resident of Omaha, Nebraska,  passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Tiffany Springs Nursing and Rehab in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born on September 14, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Mary A. Meyer (Ruelberg) and Henry H. Meyer. Kay graduated from Central High School in 1960.  She married Donald D. Dunker April 17, 1960, and together they raised four children.

Kay loved her family fiercely, which was shown through her cooking, baking and always being there when it counted.  She was kind, hardworking, considerate and brave.  She made friends for life and laughed easily and often.  She loved dogs, ice skating, gardening, books, knitting, penguins and British television.  She adored her family, especially her grandchildren.  And anyone who knew her will miss that twinkle in her eyes.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Dunker; parents; and sister Mary Lou Zierott.

She is survived by her four children: Dr. Daniel Dunker and wife Mamie, Thomas Dunker and husband Thom Charest, Patrick Dunker and wife Jean, Susan Pileggi and husband Andrew; grandchildren: William, Christian, Timothy, Grace, Caroline, Joe McMahon and wife Ellie, Mia, Katie and David; along with many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in Omaha, Nebraska. A celebration of her life will be held at Pacific Hills Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska on June 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank the McCrite family and staff; the staff at Tiffany Springs Nursing and Rehab; and the staff of Elevate Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.
