Obituary

Kathryn T. Valenti, 85 years old, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018, at NorthCare Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Kathryn was born on March 5, 1932, to Frank and Lena (Anello) Cherrito.  She was the winner of the American Tribune Beauty Contest in December of 1946 and graduated from Glennon High School in 1949.  Kathryn married Anthony E. Valenti on January 6, 1950.  They were lifelong residents of Kansas City, and lived in Columbus Park for the last 46 years.  Kathryn and Anthony have been parishioners of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Choir and volunteered for the St. Joseph's Table. She retired from the Kansas City Election Board.  She enjoyed being a member of the American Daughters of Columbus, the Fatima Choir, and also volunteered at the annual Boy Scout Troop 80 Chili Dinner.  Her love of music, flowers, angels, butterflies, animals, and homemade breakfast was known by all those who were lucky enough to spend time with her.  Above all else, her dedication to and love of her family brought her abundant joy.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Anthony E. Valenti; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Margie Valenti; and daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Joe Mike Sola; brother Frank Cherrito; brother-in-law Pete Sirna; grandchildren, Kathryn Jo Maggio (Sam), Maria Valenti, Anthony Valenti (Megan), Nicki Pace (Frankie), and Dominique Cardello (Tony Mike); great-grandchildren, Victoria Valenti and Vince Maggio, Rocco, Sawyer and Molly Valenti, Anthony and Lena Baldassaro Pace, and Aniela, Milania, and Tony Mike Cardello Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by beloved daughter, Rita; parents, Frank and Lena Cherrito; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jo Ann Cherrito; sister, Madeline Sirna; sister-in-law, Annice Cherrito; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaurite and Sam Raccuglia.
The Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. followed by Visitation from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106, followed by entombment at Mount Olivet Mausoleum.
Pallbearers: Anthony Valenti, Sam Maggio Jr., Tony Mike Cardello, Frankie Pace, Frank Cherrito, Joe Mike Sirna, Carl Cherrito, and Carl Raccuglia.
Honorary Pallbearers: Dominick Allegro, Mike Carullo, Sam Belgiere, Joe LaBella, James M. Muschietty, Billy Davis, Jerry J. Sirna Jr., Joseph A. Cherrito, Frank Vigliaturo, Frank Sarro, Chris Morgan, Bill Lamore, and James Sola.
The family would like to thank the staff at NorthCare Hospice House, as well as all of the family and friends who helped provide love and comfort.  Kathryn's family has peace in knowing how blessed they are to have had her in their lives. Kathryn was loved and will be missed by all.
