Obituary

Katie (Vento) Fewins, 101 years young, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center.  Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 MO-150, Lee's Summit Missouri. The Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery.  Family dinner at the church immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to The Paul Anthony Mistretta Memorial Scholarship Fund at Rockhurst University.

Katie was born on August 17, 1920, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Giuseppe and Maria (Palmenteri) Vento.  Katie was a graduate of Northeast High School.  She married William Frank Fewins in 1944, a war hero who died in 1946.  After the untimely death of her husband, Katie raised her daughter at the family home on Park Avenue with the help of her beloved mother and siblings.  She was employed by Fisca Oil Company until her retirement.  She loved being surrounded by family, where she shared her love of cooking and baking, especially her famous Italian cookies.  She had a passion for embroidery, crochet, cross stitch and made many baby quilts for friends and family. Katie never missed watching or listening to a Royals game.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Charlie, Sam, Jasper, Ben, Joe and Johnny; sisters Grace, Lena, and Jennie; and grandson Paul Anthony Mistretta.  She is survived by her sister Rose Cooper; sister-in-law Eva Mae Wlliams; her daughter and son-in-law Neva and Anthony Mistretta; her granddaughter Toni Marie (Tom) Newton; her great-granddaughters Katie and Grace; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Sue Rusco for her many Sunday visits and a special thank you to Dr. Gerald Mancuso for years of kind and loving care.

Pallbearers:  Tom Newton, Rodney Harris, Sam Cangelosi, Sam Vento, Kenny Ryan, Tristan Hoffmann
