Obituary

Leonard J. "Lonnie" Rizzo, 76, Green Bay, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021. He was born on February 13, 1945, in Kansas City to Anthony and Mary (Passantino) Rizzo.

Leonard attended high school in Kansas City and went on to earn his degree in Theology at Christian Brothers University in Tennessee. After his time in Tennessee, he moved to Green Bay to work for St. Patrick's Parish and continued his education for his Master's in English through Lakeland College.

In 1972, Leonard married Peggy O'Connell in Green Bay and together they raised three children. When his children moved out, he found great comfort and companionship with his dog, Eddie.

Leonard owned a few businesses, taught at local schools and colleges, but what was really important to Lonnie was his writing. When Leonard wasn't working (or making his famous spaghetti for friends, family or fundraisers) he would spend his free time volunteering at St. John the Baptist Church, enjoying Door County, going to movies with friends or reading a good book at a local bookstore.

Survivors include his children, Shannon (Andy) Ewers, Joe (Jodie) Rizzo, Anthony Rizzo; grandchildren, Dominick, Angelo, Isabella, Gabrielle; siblings, Tony (Phyllis) Rizzo, Tom (Pat) Rizzo, Don Rizzo; former spouse, Peggy Pokel; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carrie Ann (Dave) Frew.

Funeral Services were held in Green Bay, WI. Private burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
