Leonardo Giuseppe Passantino, aka CAPTAIN AWESOME, embarked on his final journey on this plane as our HERO was lifted up to Heaven peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on March 21, 2022.

HERO: HE•RO (n) As defined by Merriam-Webster:

1. d) one who shows great courage - √

Lenny is the truest definition of a HERO, a real-life SUPERHERO on Earth!  We were all blessed with Lenny for 11 1/2 beautiful years, and even through all of his battles and challenges in life, Lenny's constant infectious smile always shined through.  This precious soul showed so many what true LOVE is and how to tackle life's adversities with positivity, grace and endless HOPE.

Lenny's last 5 years led our whole family on adventures from coast to coast searching for every possible solution and fighting hard for the best outcomes.  From KC to Seattle to Denver to New York we traversed the country spreading hope, love, positivity and joy to all who watched his incredible journey.

We know Lenny is dancing away in Heaven with his Uncle Dom, MeMe and Paw Paw, celebrating a life full of love, compassion, hope, and adventure.

Until we meet again son, may your spirit continue to LIVE on and to shine through all of those who you touched on this Earth.

We would like to thank all of Lenny's caretakers, doctors, nurses and aids that assisted our family at Children's Mercy-KC, KU Med, Seattle Children's, Advanced Medical Therapies-Seattle, McDonagh Medical-KC, Colorado Children's Hospital-Denver and Memorial Sloan Kettering-NYC. We would also like to thank our loving family and friends who have stood by our side and supported our family through thick and thin the past 5 years.  We love you all and are so grateful for your love and support.

Lenny is survived by his parents Dante & Beth Passantino, siblings Isabella, Dominic, and Lillian, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 14 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help / Redemptorist Catholic Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at Corrigan Station.
