Leonore was born on February 26, 1932, to the late Nick and Mary Verde. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Lillis High School. She married the love of her life, Larry Messina, on June 21, 1952. Together, they devoted their lives to their family, faith, and community. They raised 6 children together. Leonore enjoyed supporting all her family's big and small moments. She was a wonderful cook, a gracious host, and loved to crochet. She enjoyed playing bridge and bunco with her friends, and loved to travel whenever she could. She was very faithful and giving of her time and talent, especially to St. Gabriel's Parish and School. She was a pillar of the church, pioneering the St. Gabriel's annual Spaghetti Dinner and St. Gabriel's annual Golf Tournament. Leonore had a deep love for St. Vincent's De Paul and Devotion to the Virgin Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents Nick and Mary Verde, and her husband Larry Messina. She is survived by her six children: Mary Kay and husband Dr. Ed Schumacher, Larry and his wife Kathy Messina, Julie and her husband Chris Schembri, Nick and his wife Denise Messina, Paul and his wife Terri Messina, and Steve and his wife Regina Messina. She also leaves behind her sister Virginia Fontana, brother Dr. Julian and his wife Cheryl Verde, and sister-in-law Paula Donnici. She has 20 grandchildren, 15 of which are married, 33 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Leonore will be deeply missed for her family devotion, commitment to her faith and for the many lives she touched.

The family would like to thank Linden Woods Village and Tradition Health Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
