Obituary

Lewis Frank Curtis, Jr., 70, of Overland Park, KS, passed away December 3, 2020. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, December 14, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, followed by a Graveside Service with Military Honors at 2:15 p.m. at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery, KCMO. Masks and social distancing are required for all services.

Lewis was born February 10, 1950, in Augsburg, Germany, to his father Lewis, an American serviceman, and his mother Maria. He was a graduate of Franklin High School in Reistertown, Maryland, and joined the U.S. Army in 1969. After moving to Kansas City in the early 1970's, he became plant manager at Atlas Windows. He started in the swimming pool business in the 1980's and worked as the construction foreman for Caribbean Pool from 1989 to 1997.  Lewis joined Pool & Patio in 1997 as a delivery and service technician on swimming pools.  He became store manager and an expert on pools and spas.  Lewis had an immense knowledge of the swimming pool industry and that expertise will be sorely missed.  Lewis knew and remembered everyone!

Lewis enjoyed his time off by watching his favorite show, Wheel of Fortune.  He never missed solving a puzzle and Donna always encouraged him to apply to be on the show!  Lewis had a true passion for all ages and classes of football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.  He never missed watching football games and critiquing every one of them.  Lewis had a love of animals and enjoyed his yearly vacations with Donna to various zoos, especially Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo.

Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Jessie M. Curtis in 1998. He is survived by his companion of 13 years, Donna K. Harris, and her family; and many friends.
