Loretta F.
Masucci
Oct 9, 1938 — Mar 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Loretta Frances (Mangiaracina) Masucci, who passed away peacefully at the age of 87, on March 31, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 9, 1938, to John and Angelina (Cerra) Mangiaracina, Loretta was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She grew up in the Columbus Park area of Kansas City and enjoyed the summertime activities and sports provided at Don Bosco Community Center. It was at Don Bosco where she met her husband, William "Boots" Masucci.
Loretta was gifted with the talent of sewing; she could easily make a very stylish outfit, costume, curtains, or anything involving a needle and a thread. She also loved crafts, playing cards, gardening, traveling, and making cookies for the holidays. Her family was top priority, and spending time with the family provided her with much joy. She worked at The Jones Store Company and was the sole proprietor of a successful property investment venture. Also, on Saturdays in the spring, she would tend to the flowers and plants at her family's produce stall at the City Market.
She was a longtime member of the American Daughters of Columbus, where she played bocce and socialized with many friends. She was a devout Catholic and routinely sought comfort and guidance through her faith.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband William "Boots" Masucci; her son John Carl Masucci; her parents and husband's parents; her sister Florence Ann Mancuso; her brother-in-law James F Mancuso; her sister Mary K Conforti; and her brother-in-law Nick Conforti. Also, her in-laws Alexander Masucci (Betty), Dr. Joseph Masucci, and Rosalie "Dolly" Masucci; nephews John Michael Mancuso, Victor Mancuso, Michael Joseph Masucci; and great-niece JoLynn Distasio.
Loretta is survived by her son Vincent Masucci (Abra); and daughter Mary Murray (Jim); five grandchildren: Laura Murray, Ava Masucci, Isabella Masucci, Grace Masucci Blouin, Victoria Masucci; and two great-grandchildren; sisters-in- law Mary Kaye Masucci and Angela "Queenie" Masucci; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, April 6, at St. Therese Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Michael Mancuso, Vincent Mancuso, Jim Murray, Jaime Gonzalez, Jim Cox, and Barry Somers.
