Louise Battaglia, 88, passed away November 29, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 3, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery. The family respectfully request that masks be worn for the services.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her son Frank, and her son Thomas. She is survived by her children Nunzio Battaglia, daughter in law Alberta Naylor. Mary Miller and spouse Thomas, Sarah Klinge and spouse Melvin, Joseph Battaglia, Rocky Battaglia and spouse Edie Marie, Anthony Battaglia, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Louise was called Mom, Momma, Ma Ma. She was loved by her family. She was born and raised in Kansas City by her mother and grandmother. Young and beautiful she caught the eye of Joseph Battaglia and started a family, having eight children. There were struggles and hard times raising kids while having to work, but she always persevered to provide for her children. Her resourcefulness in the kitchen always found a way to put delicious food on the table and was a great instinctive cook. Best meatballs, sugu, and thanksgiving dressing ever!

She was a switchboard operator at Wolf Bros, The Jones Store Co. and worked the customer service phones for UMB bank for over 30 years. During most of her life spanning over 60 years she rode the bus to work no matter what the weather.

Life did not afford Louise the luxury of developing some of her own talents and personal goals because she always put the wellbeing of her kids and grandkids before her own. She was a resilient woman. She had multiple surgeries and later in life lost two sons. She persevered. For her, love and comfort was the noise of family gathering. She loved having people around her table. The door to her house was always open and unlocked. No matter how long you had been away, no matter if you fought yesterday, you could come back into that house today and she would be glad to see you. Her approval was everything to those who loved her.

Shortly after she retired in her late 70's Louise had a fall that left her unable to live independently. Her children and grandchildren visited and cared for her until her final days, where she was taken home to heaven at the Divine Mercy Hour of 3 p.m. She will forever be in our hearts. The family would like to thank the staff of Tiffany Springs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and St Luke's Hospice.
