Manuel Joseph Ortiz, 78, passed away April 10, 2017. Visitation will be 11 a.m. with a Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to NorthCare Hospice.

Manuel was born March 10, 1939, in Enterprise, KS. He worked as a machinist for Accurate Tool and Die, and Thermo Dynamics. He was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo Ortiz and Michaela Aranda; three brothers, Ismael, Jesse, and Paul Ortiz; and one sister, Mary Ellen Ortiz.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Wilhelm Ortiz; four daughters, Sandra Porrello (Joe), Elizabeth Vess (Jerry), Sherl Knight (Joe), and Jacqueline Adams (Dan); grandchildren, Andrea Nawalanic (Greg), Connie Jo Lucas (Chris), Christina Taylor (Todd), Joseph Porrello Jr. (fiancée Maureen Frances), Candace Wilson, Rachael Vess, Marieta Ortiz, Terry Burt, Nicholas Burt (Anastasia), Jacob Burt (Jenny), Stephanie Knight; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph V. Ortiz, Bobby Aranda; sisters, Linda Briones (Robert), Josephine Ortiz; sister-in-law, Marcelina Ortiz; and many nieces and nephews.
