Marcia Ann (McMillan) Damiano of Smithville, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the age of 75. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Leonard Damiano, her sons, Mark (Kristen) Damiano of Clarkston, Michigan, Joseph of Kansas City, and M. Vito (Jennifer) of Cincinnati, Ohio, grandchildren, Nickolas, Francesca, Alexander, Anthony, Lillian, Alivia and Charlotte, siblings Charlee (Michael) Bever of Vero Beach, Florida, Nannette (Rudy) Wolford of Gower and John (Nancy) McMillan of King City, and many nieces and nephews. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Rosalee (Waltemath) McMillan of King City, in-laws Lawrence and Frances Damiano, and grandson Reece Damiano.

Born November 21, 1947, raised in King City and a graduate of Mount St. Scholastica College in Physical Education. Marcia met her husband at school in Atchison, Kansas and married shortly after graduation. Len's career took their family around the world. They lived and worked in Kansas City; Seattle, Washington; Singapore; Cinnaminson, New Jersey; Ham Lake, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois; Longs, South Carolina; and Smithville, Missouri. While raising their family, Marcia taught mostly middle school math and science at parochial schools in Kansas City, including St. Charles Borromeo Academy. She also taught in Cinnaminson, New Jersey at St. Charles Borromeo; in St. Paul, Minnesota at Maternity of Mary-St. Andrew; in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at Risen Christ Lutheran School and elsewhere throughout their family's adventures.

After retiring from teaching, she greeted many visitors in period dress at the H.L. Hunley Submarine Museum at Broadway-at-the-Beach in Myrtle Beach. In addition, Marcia was a talented quilter and seamstress, carefully crafting personalized, custom quilts for loved ones to mark special occasions like weddings and births. Nana enjoyed making memories with her grandchildren in Myrtle Beach, before moving back to Smithville.

Marcia deeply loved King City and the McMillan Family Farm. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McMillan Barn, 4585 U.S. 169 Highway, just north of King City. Guests are encouraged to bring a quilt Marcia made to share the beauty of her handiwork. A private funeral Mass will be celebrated for the family only on Saturday morning, November 25. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the non-profit Gower Convalescent Center, Inc., 323 South 169 Highway, P.O. Box 170, Gower, MO 64454, which provided outstanding care to Marcia in her final days and comfort to her family.
