Maria (Occhipinti) D'Angelo, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Services will be held on Thursday, March 2, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum.

Maria was born in Camporeale, Sicily on September 24, 1939. She emigrated with her family in 1956 to join her uncle Tony Occhipinto in Kansas City.  She returned to Sicily in 1962 to marry Gaetano D'Angelo and they returned to settle in Kansas City.  They remained together until his passing in 2011.

She worked in the garment industry working in men's alterations and later working from home.  Maria always looked at the bright side of life no matter what came her way.  She loved to visit with family and friends and always had a smile on her face and a story to tell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaetano D'Angelo, daughter Lia D'Angelo, parents, Frank and Maria Francesca Occhipinti, brothers-in-law Giuseppe D'Angelo and  Andrea D'Angelo.

Maria is lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary Frances D'Angelo, son Gaetano (Shelly) D'Angelo, granddaughter, Izabella D'Angelo, sister Enza (Dennis) Haug, sister-in-law, Maria D'Angelo, brother-in-law, Vincent (Tecla) D'Angelo, and many cousins and friends.
