Maria Leone, 88, passed away June 24, 2022. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery.

Maria was born on June 1 ^st , 1934, in Castelvatrano, Sicily. She was only sixteen when she arrived in the United States with her newly married husband, Santoro Leone. She established a home with him and raised 8 children in their 43 years of marriage. After Santoro's death, she married Marion Mistretta, a union that lasted 8 years until his death.

Among her many activities was a love of cooking, which she willingly shared. There was no doubt that she was the matriarch of the family and was always there for her children whenever she was needed. She was also a faithful friend to the many families she and her husband Santoro were instrumental in bringing to the United States.  There was also no doubt she would tell you what was on her mind and often regaled visitors with stories of her childhood in wartime Sicily. In spite of only a 5 ^th grade education, she was a woman of intelligence and depth of knowledge, especially in matters of finance.

Maria was preceded in death by the father of her children Santoro Leone, her son John Leone, her granddaughter Melissa Leone, and her second husband Marion Mistretta. She is survived by her children Francesa Leone, Teresa Leone, Angela and Bobby Louvier, Anthony Leone, Stella and Dennis All, Carlo and Kim Leone, David Leone; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law John and Rosetta Guarino.
