Mark Charles Gentry, went into the presence of the God he loved and served on March 9, 2025. Mark was born on March 11, 1956, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Charles "Bill" Gentry and Betty Lou (nee Khoury.) He grew up there and in Norman, Oklahoma. He also lived in Dodge City, Wichita, Topeka, and Salina, Kansas; then to Kansas City Missouri, where his mother died in 1969.

In 1971 he received Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Red Bridge Baptist Church by Rev. Max Morris. Mark graduated from Kansas City Christian High School and went on to graduate from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri where he earned a B.A. in Philosophy.

He moved to Illinois to attend Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he graduated cum laude with a M.A. in Philosophy of Religion. Following that, he taught Philosophy at Harper Valley Jr. College in Illinois. He later moved to Madison, Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin where he received a M.A. in Philosophy of Science and Ethics. He taught Philosophy at Huntington College in Indiana and entered the Doctoral Program at the University of Wisconsin Madison and began work on a dissertation.

He was an active member of his church and "house church", where he led Bible studies and where many discussions occurred. Mark was a philosopher to the core! He was well-read and a searcher of truth - a godly man who was a lifelong student, learner, and educator. As a teacher, Mark loved the interaction with high school and college students.

In 2023, he moved to Oklahoma and most recently to North Kansas City, Missouri where he suddenly passed away from a massive heart attack, following an afternoon hike to a Nature Sanctuary, on a sunny, warm and pleasant day.

Mark loved camping in the Rockies and Tetons. He enjoyed nature and hiking nature trails. Though Mark never married, he is survived by his sister Rebecca Lou Gentry; an aunt LaDon Martin; and an uncle Charles Khoury (Mary); his stepmother Mary Gentry; a stepsister Melissa Ruth Pierce; nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.
