Martin Castro Jr., age 70, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. Services will be held on Monday, September 28th at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road Prairie Village, Kansas 66206. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be at 1:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048.

The family respectfully invites family and friends to join us for a luncheon at the church at 3:00 p.m. after the burial.

Martin was born on June 21, 1956, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Martin Castro, Sr. and Maria Guadalupe Puga Castro. He grew up on the East Side of Kansas City and attended high school at DeLaSalle and East High School.

He joined the Marine Corps and served as a Sergeant from 1974, during the Vietnam War era, all the way to 1980.

While enlisted, he reunited with the love of his life, Rosemary Restivo, in January of 1979 and the two were married a little over a year later on June 21, 1980, which happened to be his birthday. They had two daughters - Josephine Castro born in 1983 and Victoria Castro born in 1992.

Martin started trucking school in 1983 and was an over-the-road truck driver his entire life all the way up to his passing.

His favorite pastime was shopping at the thrift stores around town, as well as the swap ‘n shop. He also loved fishing, especially deep sea, and he really loved the beach, snorkeling, and hunting for seashells. He was very big into music collecting, especially old vinyls, and loved dancing with his wife as the music played. He enjoyed TV shows about cowboys and Indians and was a huge fan of war movies and documentaries.

At the end of the day though, the most important thing to Martin was his family. They always came first and he always put them before himself. He was one of the hardest working men, not only at his job, but outside of it as well. He provided and loved his girls day in and day out and they were truly his world. He was a simple man, but also very generous and overly thoughtful. He truly was a beautiful soul who was always helping and looking out for others.

Martin was a wonderful, and dedicated son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was truly a prime example of what a man and a human being should strive to be or become. A rare light in this world was extinguished the day the good Lord called him home.

He was preceded in death by his father Martin Castro Sr., his mother Maria Guadalupe Puga Castro, sister Mary Ann Castro-Polina, father-in-law Baldo Restivo, and mother-in-law Josephine Restivo.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosemary Castro; his daughters Josephine Castro (Jerry Young), and Victoria Castro; granddaughters Martina Castro (Lamar Griffin), Gianna Neri, and Arya Neri; a bonus grandson Jaxon Young; and great-granddaughter Kay'lani Griffin; his sister Gloria Esteban (Anthony Esteban); brother David Castro, Sr. (Nancy Castro); two brothers-in-law Anthony Restivo, Sr. (Geri Restivo) and Mark Polina; as well as multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers: Jerry Young, Israel Cedillo, Joshua DelOrier, David Castro Jr., Lamar Griffin, and Jaxon Young.

Honorary Pallbearers: Anthony Restivo Sr., Anthony Restivo Jr., Nicholas Restivo, David Castro Sr., Anthony Esteban, Mark Polina, Tony Lopez, Chris Dec, Samuel Puga, and Frank Calandra.
