Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Alan 'Mickey' Pope, who left us on March 13, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, after a near two-year battle with cancer.

Mickey was born on August 23, 1984, in Kansas City, Missouri and was a graduate of William Chrisman High School in 2003. Following high school he began work with JobOne as well as with his father in the family-owned landscaping business NewMark lawns where he worked diligently until his death, fostering many lasting relationships with the people he met through his endeavors. He was a lifelong Catholic and devoted parishioner of Saint Mary's Catholic Church.

Mickey had an inexhaustible love for film and television, often engaging friends and family in discussions about his favorite films and tv shows as well as writing stories of his own. He also passionately supported his hometown teams, the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.  He was a cherished son to Mark and Mary Pope, a beloved brother to Marcus and Marshall Pope, and a proud uncle to four nephews and two nieces.

We remember Mickey and honor the legacy he leaves behind-one of courage, love, and joy. The grace revealed with his infectious smile and cheerful presence will serve as a reminder of the happiness which is to be found in life, even in the face of adversity. Our memories will be cherished as we wait to be reunited in the glory of God in our next life.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
