Mary Rose Hemingway, 89, passed away on September 2, 2020 in Austin, Texas. Visitation will be 10 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mary Rose was born on December 29, 1930, to Pasquale and Rosa Cervello.  She married Leo Hemingway on May 4, 1957 and they had three daughters. Leo passed away March 17, 1975.  She raised her daughters to be strong women. Mary Rose's biggest passion was cooking. Making breakfast at Anthony's Restaurant for many years gave her that joy as well as being around family and friends.

Mary Rose was preceded in death by her husband Leo Hemingway; her mother and father; her daughter Rosa Hemingway; her sisters Josie Ciarlelli, Vita Serrone, and Ann Giordano; her brother, Manuel Cervello; and her nephews Jimmy Ciarlelli, Robert Ciarlelli and Anthony Serrone. Mary Rose is survived by her daughters Patty (Bob) Beck, and Hilda (John) Hammons; grandchildren Joe Beck, Leo Beck, Tim Greene, Anthony (Alyssa) Greene, John Hammons, Ava Hammons; great-grandchildren Amara and Archer Greene; and many nieces and nephews.
