Mary Louise "Lou" (Sherpy) Bax, 72, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family, on July 16, 2020. Visitation will be 9 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42 ^nd Terr., Kansas City, MO 64116. Due to the pandemic, masks are required for the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Patrick Parish.

Lou, as she was known by friends and family, was born on November 5, 1947 in Kansas City, MO, to Roy and Carmelena Sherpy. She was raised in St. Michael's Parish and graduated from Glennon High School. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and later a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she assisted in planning wedding ceremonies for countless families.

Lou married the love of her life, Ralph George "Mutt" Bax, in 1967. Together, they had two children, Michael Tobin and Marcie Renee. Lou and Ralph enjoyed many years watching their children grow and especially enjoyed watching Kansas City Royals Baseball as a family. In later years, Lou found her greatest joy in spending time with her granddaughters, Saturna and Alaina Lu. She and Ralph could often be found supporting and cheering on their girls at events. Lou cherished her time with friends and family. She loved bowling with her Tuesday Brunch Bunch and trips with the Travel Girls. She also enjoyed cooking and especially loved making rice balls and Italian Cookies.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Carmelena Sherpy; and her in-laws, Julius and Emma Bax. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph; her children, Michael Bax (Lanita) and Marcie Bax; her two granddaughters, Saturna and Alaina Lu Bax; and her brothers David Sherpy (Mary Teresa) and Don Sherpy (Cathy). She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Charley Bax (Betty), Bob Bax (Kathleen), and David Bax (Christine); sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Martin (Ralph) and Mary Jane Reese (Ed); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
