Obituary

Mary Margaret (Maggio) Pearson, 87, joined her heavenly kingdom on April 23, 2024. Services will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at the church. On Saturday, April 27, the Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family requests no flowers.

Mary was born November 11, 1936, to Anthony and Marie (Scola) Maggio. At the age of 12, she worked alongside her father at his produce market. She worked there until her graduation from Northeast High School in 1954. On June 15, 1955, she married the love of her life, George Pearson. In 1958, they welcomed their first daughter, Diana, and second daughter, Deborah "Debbie", in 1961. After raising Diana and Debbie, Mary returned to her roots and opened her produce stand in the Waldo area. In 1986, she and Debbie opened a second produce stand, until its closing in 1995. Mary was most known for her endless devotion to God and her family. She was an adoring wife and will celebrate 69 years of marriage to George in June. Mary was a beloved mother and grandmother, and God's latest blessings were the birth of her great-granddaughter in 2022 and twin great-grandsons in 2024. Mary's dedication, love and care for extended family was extraordinary and gave her much joy.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carl Maggio; and her brother-in-law, John Genova.

Mary is survived by her husband, George; her daughters, Diana Hoppe and Debbie Pearson; her grandchildren, Sarah Hoppe Butler (Troy)  and Carl Hoppe (Grace Goga); her great-grandchildren, Frances Mary Butler, Callaway Butler, and George Butler; her sister, Carrie Genova; her sister-in-law, Rosalie Maggio; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Anthony Maggio, Carl Maggio, Joe Maggio, Donnie McCall, James Scola, and Tony Mike Scola.
